An example of a deceptive marketing method to be honest. Promoting an item whilst witholding information regarding the promotion is deception. Also, I am quite shocked at the non signers here. However I do believe ANET have made another fiasco out of things. And really it hurts their business more than anything else. Dissatisfied customer leads to disloyalty, and therefore, loss of future sales.
I can understand why most who have the bonus pack does not want it to be sold seperately - they feel they will have been ripped off for spending money on things they did not need such as extra useless character slots.
Quite simply, ANET should have ran a similar promotion for retailers where the pricing could be made in such fashion as to make people opt to buy online rather than retail. However, the real emphasis is on those who did not have viable methods of purchasing GWEN or for that matter, any other GW product online. Contrary to popular belief, not everyone has or is able to access credit cards (by hook or by crook).
It is amazingly ignorant of ANET in their marketing. They basically were competing with their retailers and bringing in direct revenues by this online promotion. As is the case however, publishers/developers that try to axe away at their retailer market often end up chopping their own feet.

they aren't, they chose a box instead of trying to qualify for the bonus.

see the problem there is(for what it's worth), it WAS available for the masses.

It's not about devotion. it's about complying and qualifying.

Because the BMP is a bonus for using the online store?
That's the sole reason for its existance. I bought 3 character slots to qualify, and, as it turns out, I actually used them and was satisfied with my purchase. The BMP is icing on the cake.
I have no problem with the BMP being offered again (same conditions), or parhaps even offered on the online store for $10 - $20 (seems fair, since you are not getting anything else with it); but I expect it would remain exclusive to the online store as its purpose is to drive awareness of that feature.

I qualified for the BMP, and it's a fun addition to GW (I haven't had this much fun since Gate of Desolation). The people who missed out on the promotion would enjoy the BMP too, and adding it to the in-game store would help generate some extra revenue for ANet... I don't see why it wouldn't be a win-win situation to make the BMP available for purchase.

So /signed and ready to pay for it, but it won't be a matter if I can't get the BMP.

i agree that everyone has payed for the game and should be entitled to the bmp but it was an online promotion
similar to car insurers offering 10% discount if you buy online
the conditions of the extra content was clearly stated and this wasn't an expansion this was a promotional online offer
that's like saying that eBay should have stores on the high street so people who cant buy online can use them too
i hope I'm getting what I'm trying to say across
basically i agree that Anet could of handled their promo offer better and made it available to a larger audience etc etc but at the end of the day the offer has now finished and if it was made available in stores or even free in a few months all those people that payed the online store prices just to get the offer would be the ones to loose out
it was stated LIMITED so lots of people bent over backwards to get it and if they were to sell it in the stores or separately now it would be cheating those who went to the trouble to qualify
I'm fine with it being made available in stores or separately but only if the people who went to the trouble to qualify are some how compensated
i mean some people bought game content and character slots they didn't need or already had and that's where i see the unfairness of selling it separately after the offer has finished
i didn't get it and would love to have it but not at the expense of lots of other players

This makes no sense... You had to spend $30 in the online store to qualify for it, so why charge half that to sell it separately? If that is done, then I'm sure many people who spent the money in the online store would feel greatly ripped off, and ANET would have to do something to compensate for that.
As for the topic.. I'd have to say /notsigned. I can see from both sides of the fence, however the promotion was available from July 5 to Oct 31. That's a full four months. And don't give me the whole "you live at home with your mum" or whatever, because I've lived on my own for 7 years, and have supported myself rather easily during that time. It's not difficult if you can manage your money.
I personally had gotten 1 or 2 extra character slots just because I needed the storage space (wtb extra storage slots in the chests?) and then got EotN through the online store as well. So I was way over the $30 anyways. I would've much rather have had the actual game & disc to go with the other 3 CEs I already have, but I chose to get it in the online store in order to qualify.
(I will feel bad for the people who didn't start playing until AFTER this promotion expired though, but perhaps what they don't know won't hurt them?)

Sadly not, my bank doesn't allow me a credit or debit card til i'm 18.
Edit, i may have misunderstood as i'm not entirely sure what a paypal debit card is, could you elaborate? It the same as straight up paypal?

Did I miss something or was the $30 not for the bonus pack but for whatever else was bought. In other words, the bonus pack did not cost $30. GWEN and character slot purchase may have but not certainly the bonus pack.

No it makes sense as its not 1/2 price of what you paid cause it was there to promote gwen more than anything else. People who bought gwen at b&m places would already have paid for the game (40 bucks) and they would be paying 20 more for the bmp. You didnt pay 30 bucks for the BMP, you paid 30bucks for everything else and teh BMP was tossed in for free, There is a big difference.

hmm is it just me or ppl who have the bmp unlocked and are posting here against the seperate selling are acting like snobs? Just pushing off ppl and guarding their precious ability to acsess the mission packs and saying stuff like "don't whine" or "too l8" or similar.

Unfortunately, those who /sign-ing now would be pretty pissed if those who actually did go through the promotion were compensated with something
ArenaNet will never make anyone entirely happy.

at the end of the day this isnt about payment options as anet really need to add more payment options to their online store anyway
this is about should or should not the BMP be sold separately in stores or online?
if they were planning on selling it separately after the offer finished they should never have advertised it as LIMITED and as they have then they should not change their minds now to be fair to the player that believed that this was a limited time only offer
and when i say compensated i mean the people who bought content they didn't need just to get the BMP they should be compensated for the price of the contend they already had not the price of the BMP (at the price they decided to sell it at or extra slots as they will probably be used at some point)
i mean the people that bought campaigns or GW,EN when they already had it
to get the BMP
i didnt get it although i do have a credit card and started playing a month before the offer finished
the only one to blame for me not getting it is the fact that its nearly christmas and im spending all my spare cash on christmas for my kids therefore it was down to my situation not anet
